I got this shirt from a lady at work who said that she loved it but every time she put it on she just couldn’t see herself wearing it out of the house. After seeing me bedecked in some other sequin item she brought it to me, “You’ll love this” she promised. And I do!
It’s a cashmere tank top with sequin panels on the front. It’s crazy shiny and wearing it alone might blind someone if I stand in the sun at the wrong angle, but worn as a layer it works wonderfully.
The loose weave knit of the light sweater (can’t see it in the drawing) as the top layer let’s the sequins poke through from underneath and isn’t too heavy.
I’m squeezing the last life out of my multi-print leopard flats. This may have been the last day I wore them since they’re officially falling apart. I’m sad, but at least they got some happy wearing out of them!
For some reason sequins seem very winter to me, maybe icy and a little harsh. It is probably something I’ll phase out for the summer months, but this made a great transitional outfit.

I wore my jean skirt without tights for the first time since October. It’s always such a strange thing to go bare-legged. It was still a little chilly so I ended up wearing my scarf and sweater (not pictured) almost all day.
I feel like dressing in the dark mornings is getting a bit difficult, as I’m in my winter rut of easy clothes – the same few pairs of bottoms and different shirts. Since finishing my 30-30 I’ve just replaced the featured skirt and pair of jeans for another – mostly because I need to take a bunch of things to the tailor.
Next week perhaps I’m going to try to wear the things I didn’t get around to wearing in my winter wardrobe one last time before I pack them up at the end of the month. My closet is small enough (or perhaps my wardrobe large enough) that the closet can’t hold both seasons at once.
My goal at the end of the month is to get everything clean and pack it away for next fall. The new season always brings a fresh outlook on what I have – things I’ve forgotten about and new ways to wear everything, so I’m excited for that – but to break it out too soon is a little headstrong. Who me? Headstrong?

The challenge is finally over. My friend V-Ron (she also is kind enough to take all my pictures) said that doing just 28 days is cheating since it is called thirty for THIRTY. But I assured her I was done. There were a few days where I wore more than one outfit and from a practical standpoint, I have no more clean clothes! In fact, I’m wearing a non approved black shirt under the sweater. I purposefully hid it, so that I could cheat, but I’m telling you anyway so….
It was a good month! I can’t believe I made it all the way through. It was an amazing amount of variety, though it was a pain to do laundry so much more frequently. I put together some outfits I wouldn’t have normally worn and learned what I could really use more of – basic bottoms!
Threw this on, it was warm and I was really tired of wearing the blazer. This is all black, I’ve gotten in a black rut as the 30-30 ends. It also doesn’t help that the weather was cold and rainy, and there seemed to be a lack of color everywhere! Added the belt (Betsey Johnson via N Rack, ’09) for a dash of something interesting. The shoes also keep it a little more peppy since they’re very colorful.
I’m going on a short trip to see a friend this weekend! I may be getting tired of this 30-30 deal but it does make packing a breeze. I practically threw in a third of my 30 items and a bunch of underwear and am ready to make any outfit the weekend could throw at me.
Here’s today’s outfit, something comfy and warm – since it’s going to be cold all weekend and possibly rainy. I whine but really I know half of you would die for temperatures in the 50’s. So I’ll try to keep that at a minimum for you!
Have a wonderful weekend ladies!
I missed day 16 because I was sick – yuck. I slept all day, so obviously there wasn’t an outfit involved.
I threw on the navy tank top under the black sweater because I was out of undershirts. I didn’t realize it would show up, but it is a happy accident. I love the navy, black and pink together!
Trying out a new color combination today, lime with navy tights. Oddly it ties together with my wild multi print leopard print shoes, which have both colors in them. The shirt looks more yellow in the pictures, but the color is more like the sketch – acid lime.
I washed my hair finally – so the big sexy curl is gone and I’m back to my normal curls.
I had to wash some of my shirts last night. The only downside of having such a limited wardrobe – things need laundering more often. But I really don’t think the average joe could even tell that I’m rotating the same 30 things – which really makes you realize how little you actually need – again!
It’s weird how many outfits you can garner from 30 pieces. Which makes you realize how much excess one really has. 30 is probably 20% of my entire closet, and I wouldn’t say I have an excessive amount of clothing. It just collects over the years and it’s fun to buy new things. Part of this challenge is that there’s no shopping for the whole month. It’s like a recalibration of your closet value. After wearing the same 30 things you begin to look at everything you own with new eyes. And really, I think mostly we tend to wear the same few things anyway until we get tired of them. Well I do at least.
I love this month, it has my birthday (which I love and never want to get annoyed by as I get older!) and Valentine’s day! People give V-Day a bad rap, but it’s nice, especially in a month that in some parts of the country has little else going for it! February can be that dreary dead time of year when there’s nothing to look forward to except the dreary dead March, my personal least favorite month.
Picked out my 30 for 30 (really it’s 30 for 28) late Monday night, and had a cool idea for showing you what I picked but work has been so busy there’s no time to goof off (imagine that!). So it will have to wait until later this week.
Here’s a really crummy indoor (read with flash) shot of what I wore yesterday. Didn’t get a chance to take the picture during the day – this daily picture taking business is harder than it may seem!
